She moved to Stow, Ohio where she married her soulmate Duane "Ed" Dixon in 1991. There, they became involved as volunteers for the YMCA, earning the volunteer award three years in a row. Joan also coached T-Ball and coach pitch, helping the team sell Christmas Trees for 7 years.
In 2000, she became a resident of Garrettsville where she volunteered for many sports, school events, and clubs. She helped many people there through the Portage County Free Recycle group, keeping reusable items out of the landfills and giving them to people in need.
Joan was a career insurance agent. Joan was also a member of St. Joan of Arc Church in Streetsboro, Ohio. She enjoyed spending most of her time with her family and her friends.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Lois (nee Medricka) and Walter L. Myers.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 29 years Ed Dixon; children Allison and Cameron (Kayla) Dixon; granddaughter Addilyn Dixon; and her brother Marty (Linda) Myers.
Family will receive friends on Friday, August 21, 2020 from 6-8 PM at JOHNSON-ROMITO FUNERAL HOME, 99 W. Aurora Rd. (Rt. 82 1 mile west of Rt. 8), Northfield Center, Ohio 44067 where services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 10:30 AM. Masks are required at the funeral home. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery.
