1957 ~ 2020 (age 62)

Beverly Jane Knowles Harris, 62, of Fayetteville left this world to join our Lord on Monday, August 17, 2020.

Beverly was born on August 26, 1957. She married the love of her life, James (Jim) Dow Harris, on October 27, 1980. Bev lived for her family: her husband Jim, their daughter Heather, her late son-in-law Danny, and her grandsons, Vaden, Reagan and Layton McManus. Anyone who knew her knew that her family was her world, and she would do anything to make sure they were taken care of. She was a 1975 graduate of 71st High School and a hometown Fayetteville resident.

From early in life, Bev loved gardening with her parents and passed that love for growing tomatoes and plants on to her grandsons. She was an entrepreneur at heart and had several successful businesses and met many great friends in her adventures along the way. She and Jim enjoyed many days taking the family to North Myrtle Beach to enjoy the Surf Club, The Grill House and Coconuts. If you didn’t find her doing one of these things, there’s a good chance you could find her supporting local business at a shop or boutique, looking for her next great bag or pair of shoes with her lifelong best friend, Peggy Wolinsky.

She had a true love for life and made everything she touched better. She was a member at Cedar Falls Baptist Church and had a faithful relationship with Christ. She was so proud of her family’s strong faith. Christmas was her very favorite time of year: from putting up the gorgeous decorations to cooking the meals, down to making every detail perfect for her family and grandbabies.

Everyone who loved her will miss her sweet smile, great laugh, sparkling eyes, caretaker spirit and sassy attitude. The family would like to thank their friend and long-time family doctor, Sid Wolinsky, and Beverly’s medical team at Wake Med (Cary) ICU for all their love, effort and care.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Meridan Willoughby Coleman and Annie Marion Coleman, and Benjamin E. Knowles, Sr. and Gertrude Wilijin; parents, Benjamin Eldridge Knowles, Jr. and Jane Coleman Knowles; son-in-love, Danny Frederick McManus, Jr.; sister-in-law, Renee Hagmeier Phillips, and brother-in-law, John C. Seale.

She is survived by her husband, James Dow Harris; daughter, Heather Harris McManus; grandsons, Vaden, Reagan, and Layton McManus; sister, Kimberly Knowles Bryant (Dennis); sister-in-law, Gayle Bedsole (Greg Offenhauser); brother-in-law, Allan Glenn (Candy); sister-in-law, Charlie Seale; nephews, B.C. Bryant and Josh Bryant (Heather); nieces, Dana Heredia, Elizabeth Phillips, Meredith Phillips and several others, including two great nephews and three great nieces.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home. A service to celebrate Beverly’s life will be held Friday, August 21, 2020 at 1pm at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home with internment to follow at Cross Creek Cemetery #3.
