Last Wednesday, October 25th the community was again saddened by death claining another of our highly respected women, Mrs. Margaret Bertrand, who died at her home at Canada Corners, (Casnovia, Michigan) She was born September 4, 1837, at Southold. Ont., the daughter of Donald and Susan McLellan. She was married to David Bertrand in 1860. To this union six souls were born to brighten their lives. Dan, of Onaway, Michigan. David of Laurel, William and Charles at home. Jack and Robert, who preceded her to the great Beyond. She has lived in the home where she passed peacefully away since 66. The eighty five years of her life have been sent in a quiet, unassuming manner, and those who knew her best loved her most. Many can attest to her kindly offices and ever ready sympathy in times of need or trouble, and her eulogy is written upon the hearts of those she leaves behind. The wealth of fragrant blossoms that came from friends far and near brought a message no word could convey. She leaves to mourn their loss four sons, Dan, David, William and Charles, a step-son, Philip Bertrandof Grand Rapids, Michigan. two step-daughters, Mrs. Adelia Thompson, of Byron Center, Michiganand Mrs Mary Bonter of Pellston, Michigan. besides her relatives and friends. The funeral was conducted from her home late Saturday, October 28, 1922 by Rev. A.C. Parsons, and she was laid to rest in the family lot in Hilton Cemetery.
