Born August 11, 1974, in San Jose, California, and passed away in Elk Grove, California on August 13, 2020, at the age of 46. Lester leaves behind a heartbroken family, including his wife Elizabeth “Liz”, daughters Lauren and Madeline, and son Easton.
In addition, Lester is survived by his mother Mary Ward, sister Dori Kolb (Mike), brother-in-law Nelson Alves (Kaite), niece Kaitlin Kolb, nephews Jeremy Kolb, and Carson and Cameron Alves, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Lester was preceded in death by his father, Earl Dee Ward.
Raised in San Jose, Lester graduated from San Jose High Academy in 1992 and after marrying his wife Liz in 2000, settled in Elk Grove in 2002 to start a family. Lester enjoyed his work as a butcher starting as a young man working at his uncle’s slaughterhouse in Gilroy, California to then spending the last 17 years at Costco in the meat department. Lester was devoted to the Holy Spirit and spent many hours at the SES Hall of Elk Grove and, alongside his wife Liz, served as Holy Ghost Festa President in 2019.
Lester was passionate for his favorite past-time; fishing. He enjoyed his trips with friends to Baja California, Alaska, Bodega Bay, the San Francisco Bay, and the local Sacramento area rivers. But he was just as content taking his children to the creek by the house or the local park lake. An avid sports fan, Lester was a lifelong fan of the San Jose Sharks, San Francisco 49ers, and the San Francisco Giants, he was thrilled to take Lauren to the Championship Parade in 2014.
Lester’s biggest passion were his 3 little loves, Lauren, Madeline, and Easton. His love for life, fishing, and his beautiful smile will forever live within the kids and his wife Liz.
