Nancy Lee (Bell) Waits
May 30, 1928 ~ August 15, 2020 (age 92)

A loving wife, devoted friend and a wonderful mother would describe Nancy. But where she excelled was being a grandmother and great-grandmother. I know for a fact, she lived for the title of Ma'ma.

Nancy Lee Bell Waits passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2020 in her home in Little Rock, Arkansas with family at her side. She was 92 years old.

She was born May 30, 1928 in Fort Smith Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Talmadge D. Bell and Pearl (Wood) Bell and her older brother, Richard Bell. She graduated from Fort Smith Northside and was forever an avid Grizzly fan!

On February 24, 1952, she married James A. Waits and remained married for 54 years until he passed away on May 23, 2006. They are now together again eating strawberry shortcake and calling the Arkansas Razorbacks!!!

She worked for Trane Central Heating and Air Conditioning for many years until retirement. Nancy was a member of Grace Church and though was no longer able to attend in person, she so enjoyed the Sunday morning services online. She loved the outdoors, camping years ago, climbing Pinnacle Mountain in a rain storm and most definitely floating the Buffalo River.

Nancy had many skills, but one that was near a dear to everyone was her baking. Her home on holidays was filled with the sweet aromas of cakes, cookies and homemade yeast rolls. She simply made it look easy and effortless.

She is survived by a daughter and son, Teresa Hester and Jeffrey Waits (Amita Patel); her granddaughter's, Megan Denney (Bobby "BJ" Denney) and Juniper Patel; and the loves of her life, her great grandchildren, Peyton Denney and Riley Denney. Nancy is also survived by many nieces and nephews throughout Arkansas, Florida, Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and California.

Her family would like to also acknowledge the love and friendship of Jerry and Jan Brummett. They have been friends and family for over 60 years to all of us and they will never know what a blessing they are. Many thanks to the wonderful women who took care of her these last months and know her family is eternally grateful.

The Waits family will receive friends after the service at their home.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00PM, Wednesday, August 19 at Smith-Sherwood Funeral Home (7700 Hwy 107). Graveside service will be held at 10:00AM Thursday, August 20 at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
