Lewis is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Marilyn Sue (Thornberry) Hayes; three sons, Gary Hayes and wife Kelli, Joe Hayes and wife Tammy, Tim Hayes and wife Heather; grandchildren, Derek Hayes, Kayla Hayes, Andrew (Jessica) Rieger, Sara (Alex) Redecker, Jessica Lardarello (fiancé Ray Guajardo), Emily (Davey) Pevahouse, Hannah, Jackie, Stacie, Catie and Nick Hayes; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Bill Hayes.
A graveside service, with full military honors, will be held at Sunset Cemetery in St. Louis, under the direction of C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home, Thursday, August 20, 2020 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorials to be directed to the First Baptist Church of Bismarck.
St. Louis County requires mask or facial coverings to be worn at all times.
