He married Virginia Sanchez in Las Vegas, N.M., in 1940. He was a carpenter by trade. He spent his quality time raising his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and tending to his sheep and goats. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church and the Sociedad de Nuestro Padre Jesus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Santiago and Barbarita Martinez Encinias; brothers, Santos, Jose, Bernadino and Telesfor Encinias; sisters, Navora and Francisca Maestas and Beneranda Garcia.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia of Montezuma; sons, Toribio Encinias Jr. and wife Reva, and Fred Encinias and wife Patty, all of Montezuma; daughters, Dorothy Knezevich and husband Howard of Las Vegas, N.M., and Sally Becinti and husband Albert of Santa Ana, Calif.; sister, Flora Encinias of Montezuma; nine grandchildren; and many other relatives.
A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today in the St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the same chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with burial to follow in the Campesanto de Nuestro Padre Jesus in Montezuma.
