OSBORNE P. CALL DIES IN IDAHO OF HEART ATTACK
Osborne P. Call, 47, Soda Springs, Idaho businessman and church leader, and a former resident of Afton, died after a heart attack Monday night, Sept. 7 at Soda Springs.
Mr. Call was well known in Star Valley, having been born June 22, 1917 in Afton, to Thomas J. and Ethel Papworth Call. He attended the schools here and graduated from the Star Valley High School.
He married Janice Miller of Thayne Aug. 4, 1936 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He moved to Soda Springs in 1941, where he became owner of the Call Chevrolet Co. and the Caribou Lodge, and was district distributor foe Sinclair Oil Co. He worked in partnership with his brother, Reuel Call in Caribou Four Corners Oil Inc. of Afton.
Mr. Call owned a half interest in the Valleon Hotel of Afton for a number of years before he sold it to Orland Eddins.
He had served as president of the Soda Springs Lions Club and the Soda Springs Chamber of Commerce. He was currently serving as president of the Idaho Hotel Association and was active in many other civic projects in and around Soda Springs.
Mr. Call was an active member of the Soda Springs Ward Bishopric as Sunday School superintendent and president of his elders quorum. He was a group leader of the high priest quorum of his ward and chairman of the finance committee.
Survivors include his widow: his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Call, Afton; a daughter and three sons, Mrs. Larry (Sharon) Anderson, Salt Lake Ciry; Jay, Willard, Utah; Candance, Craig and Lance, all of Soda Springs; five grandchildren; four brothers and three sisters, Reuel, Evan Spencer and Mrs. Doyle(Maxine) Veigel, all of Afton; Robert, Rexburg, Idaho; Mrs. Floyd (Vivian) Bagley, Grover, Wyo.; and Mrs. Thelma Enfield, Independence, Mo.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in the Soda Springs LDS Chapel. Friends may call at the Allen Funeral Home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday prior to the services.
Graveside services will be conducted at about 2:30 p.m. at the Afton City Cemetery, where he will be buried.
