Bernard C. "Bernie" Brose, 82, of Fostoria, passed away 9:15 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.
He was born July 25, 1934 in Fostoria to the late William and Louise (Reinhart) Brose. He married Sandra Carol Lyman and she died in 1959 with their youngest son, Bernard Jr., during childbirth. He then married Joyce A. Emerine on January 13, 1962 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church and she died September 6, 2010.
Surviving are four children, Phyllis (Tom) Bettenbrock, Pemberville, David (Lucina) Brose, Ottawa, Betty Brose, Findlay and Judy Brose, Tiffin; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brothers, Francis (Donna) Brose, Tiffin and Andrew (Betsy) Brose, Sycamore; sisters, Anna Waltermeyer and Lucille (Fred) Smith, Fostoria, Jeanette (George) Lucius, Bucyrus, Alice (Eugene) Lucius, New Riegel, Rosie (James) Mayer, Tiffin and Inez (Willard) Kerlin, Clyde. He was also preceded in death by a son, Allen Brose, and brothers, Virgil, Herman "Pete", Jacob, Paul and William Brose Jr.
Bernie had worked at the Soybean Plant and Whitta Construction, Fostoria. He graduated from New Riegel High School in 1952 where he had played basketball. He was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria. He enjoyed flea markets, auctions, working crossword puzzles and daily visits to Wendy's restaurant.
Visitation is Tuesday August 23, 2016 from 6-8 pm at HOENING FUNERAL HOME 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 am Wednesday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria with Rev. Todd Dominique presiding. A Rosary will be prayed 10 am at the Church and burial will be in St. Wendelin Catholic Cemetery.
