Tommy loved Jesus and was a very devoted member of Westside Baptist Church in Haines City. Over the years, Tommy served on countless committees at the church, was a dedicated Deacon, drove the church van, taught Sunday School classes, and did anything else asked of him. Tommy also volunteered at Haines City High School as a "Band Booster" parent as each one of his children passed though the HCHS band program, 19 years in total; spending Friday nights cooking hamburgers in the concession stand at football games and Saturdays at band competitions helping band members prepare for the day.
Tommy adored his family and enjoyed every moment he was able to spend them. He was very generous with his time and talents and would do anything he could to help others. He treasured his church and his country and was an avid coin collector. Tommy enjoyed gardening, watching wildlife in his backyard, going to church, and his daily trips to Wal-Mart.
Tommy is preceded in death by his parents, William Taft and Beady Ann (Connor) Elliott and only sibling, Larry Newton Elliott. Tommy leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Lola; sons, Bill (Tammy) Elliott of Davenport, FL and Jimmy (Tensia) Elliott of Polk City, FL; daughter, Lisa (Gio) Andracchio of Winter Haven, FL; grandchildren, Jay (Maria) Gomez, Ian Elliott, Seth (Kyrstin) Elliott, Lupe Gomez, Lilli Elliott, Julianna (Sam) Andracchio-Oak and Jenna Andracchio as well as eight great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and all of his "honorary" children who held a special place in his heart.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Both will be held at Westside Baptist Church in Haines City. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Haines City, FL.
