Eugene was the son of Eugene Mitchell Sr and Essie Mae English Mitchell. He was educated in the Houston County School System. He was employed with the City of Warner Robins, Georgia Water & Gas Departments for 28 years. He was a member of Sandbed Baptist Church in Kathleen, Georgia where he was Ordained as a Deacon for 32 years and served as a Sunday School Teacher, President of the Prayer Team and member of the Building Committee and Sharing Ministry.
He was married to Essie Mae Coats Mitchell on October 25, 1952. After her death, he later married Darlene Bellman Jackson Mitchell on September 24, 1993, they remained together for 26 years.

4 Sons: Larry Eugene Mitchell(Sharon), Wayne Lee Mitchell(Jaremyah), Randy C. Mitchell(Charlene) and Charles A. Mitchell(April).
5 Daughters: Yvonne Mitchell, Willie Mae Mitchell, Tess Mitchell, Jennifer Mitchell and Jacqueline Lynn Mitchell.
A Devoted Grand-Daughter: Shatash Mitchell.

Graveside services were held Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 10:30AM in the Sandbed Baptist Church Cemetery in Kathleen, Georgia with Rev Floyd Clarington officiating.
