Joseph Hayes Sr., affectionally called Joe, departed his life’s journey on August 12, 2020 surrounded by his loving family and friends at his residence.

Joseph was born on July 17, 1934 in Jackson, Mississippi to Ezekiel Hayes and Irene Smith.

Joseph received his high school diploma as a young man. After his completion of school, he joined the United Stated Army from 1955-1957, where he was a marksman of the M-1 Rifle. After his honorable discharge from the United States Army, he worked for Wagner’s Casting Company, where he was an iron pourer for over 35 years.

Joseph leaves to cherish his precious memories of his wife; Teresa Hayes, children; Joseph Hayes Jr., Emmauel Hayes, Pattie Robinson, Ira Robinson and Edward Works, brothers; Roy Hayes, Ross Hayes, and James Hayes all of Jackson, MS, sisters; Marilyn Tate, Annie Burnes, Gloria Hayes and Mary Hayes. He also leaves memories of his special friends; Bishop E.F. Grey Jr., Attorney Warner Danz, Margaret and Curtis Clark, special sister-in-law, Jenette Hayes.

Joseph is preceded in death by his parents; Ezekiel Hayes and Irene Smith, and 3 brothers.
