After high school she was proud to serve in the United States Marine Corps and as part of her service, was especially honored to have marched in the inaugural parade of John F. Kennedy.
Upon returning to Marinette, Sandy was known for outstanding customer service working at Ansul, now Tyco. After her retirement she volunteered with local organizations including Habitat for Humanity, the Marinette County Historical Society Museum on Stephenson Island and St. Vincent de Paul.
Sandy was a supporter of several charities and was particularly pleased to support Toys for Tots. In addition to collecting angel figurines, she collected Green Bay Packers items and was so excited to carry and wave the American flag on the field during a game at Lambeau Field with her dear friend, Dixie Lee Elliot.
Sandy truly had many loves in her life including good times with friends, taking pictures and country music. Some of her fondest memories were when she was able to combine all of these at the Hodag Festival.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents Jim and Eleanor Grandaw and her brother Roger "Fritzy" Grandaw.
She is survived by her daughter Lesley (Eric) Bitters;
her granddaughter Lily Bitters;
her nieces: Nora (Scotty Young) Slack, Brenda (Robert) Gatterer;
and a great niece and great nephew.
At Sandy's request, no visitation will be held.
