Margaret was an excellent student and started at St. Adalbert’s Grammar School in Queens. NY and then went on to graduate with honors from The Dominican Academy High School in Manhattan in 1985. She continued her outstanding academics by receiving a B.S. in Economics from Le Moyne College, Syracuse, NY in 1989 and continued a graduate study obtaining her J.D. from the St. John’s University School of Law in 1992.
She had a distinguished career as a Brooklyn Assistant District Attorney from 1992 through 1999 and went on to become a Principal Law Clerk at the New York State Unified Court System in Queens County. She was an active member of the New York State Bar and a member of the Queens Woman’s Bar Association, serving on the Board of Directors. Margaret was committed to pro bono work and devoted significant time to the Innocence Project, achieving tremendous results for her clients. Most recently, Margaret served as an appointed Guardian for the New York City, Nassau and Suffolk County Courts.
Margaret was a woman of service to others and gave in abundance to family and her community. She loved her time with family and spent her happiest days on the sands and shores of the Long Island, Nantucket and Newport beaches. She was a ray of light, easily warming and charming everyone she met. Her brightness and happiness will continue to live on and we will find her in the sunshine and sunsets that fill our cherished thoughts and loving memories of Margaret.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, August 8, 2020, at the Church of St. Mary’s in Manhasset, NY, with Rev. Joseph M. McShane, S.J. and Rev. Thomas W. Ahern officiating. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, NY.
