Jimmy Bishop, 47, of Amarillo died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Dickerson of Bykota Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Mr. Bishop was born Oct. 2, 1959, in Amarillo to Loel and Helen Bishop. He graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1978. He worked at IBP for 17 years and was self-employed at J and C Distributing for 11 years at the time of his death. He married Carol Simon on Nov. 1, 1980, in Denver.

Mr. Bishop was very active with the Amarillo Gorillas. He enjoyed camping, golf and riding his Harley.

He was preceded in death by his father, Loel Bishop, and his father-in-law, Joseph Simon.

Survivors include his wife, Carol; his four "Four-Legged Babies"; his mother, Helen Bishop Meloy of Amarillo; his twin brother, Johnny Bishop and wife Iris of Amarillo; two sisters, Janey Spence and husband Don of Amarillo and Judy Dietrich and husband Louie of Montrose, Calif.; mother-in-law, Margo Simon of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; two brothers-in-law, Steve Simon and wife Michelle of Senatobia, Miss., and Dale Simon of Denver; sister-in-law, Sherry Kriner of Denver; two nephews; five nieces; 12 great-nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends.

The family suggests memorials be to MD Anderson Melanoma Research, The University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, TX 77210-4486 OR ASPCA P. O. Box 3024 Amarillo, TX 79116-3024.
