Jerome "Jerry" D. Thompson, 72, of Fargo, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at Sanford Health, in Fargo. Jerry was born on April 4, 1944, in Superior, Wisconsin, to Marvin and Mabel (Norby) Thompson. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from high school in 1962, in Twin Valley, MN. He also attended Interstate Business College, in Fargo. Jerry worked at Fargo Linoleum, Commercial Credit Corp., and at Dakota National Bank. In 1984, he opened his own business, Country Auto Sales on Main Avenue, in Fargo. Jerry served for 30 years in the Air National Guard, retiring with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Jerry is survived by his son, Shawn Thompson of Fargo; daughter, Kristin Thompson of Colorado; granddaughters: Jessica and Jenny Thompson; sister, Marian (David) Zellers of Lebanon, IN.; several cousins; and many longtime friends, in the Fargo-Moorhead area. Funeral Service: Saturday, May 21, at 10:00 am, at West Funeral Home Chapel, 321 Sheyenne St., West Fargo, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment: Zion Cemetery, Twin Valley, MN.
