US Congressman. He served as a Major in the United States Army during the Mexican War. Elected to represent Indiana's 2nd District in the United States House of Representatives, he served from 1861 to 1865. He also served as a Candidate for Presidential Elector from Indiana in 1840, and 1872, Member of the Indiana State House of Representatives from 1848 to 1850, and Member of the Indiana State Senate from 1850 to 1852.
