Jacob Brake Reger was the brother to my great great-grandmother, Celia Reger Simon.

He was born in WVA in 1826 and died in NE in 1913. He was the son of Abram Reger (1795-1883) and Leah Anne Brake Reger (1795-1835).

Jacob had the following siblings: Celia, John West, Albert Gallatin, Abram, Elizabeth, Alfred Alphaeus, Rebecca Ann and Leah.

He joined in marriage (in 1844) with Phoebe Cool and to this union were born 7 children: John A. (1859-1859), Alfred (died as an infant), Abraham (1846-1916), Austin (FAG #112537803 - died in 1907), Lee (died August 10, 1906) and Mary (listed as "Hattie" in obit). NOTE: Only 6 children are listed in Jacob's obit. Wes is not listed.

According to information left by Jacob's uncle, John Reger, Jacob and his family left VA (in 1879), moved on to IL and finally settled in Fairbury, Nebraska in 1880.

* * * According to information received on 6- 12- 2021, Jacob's obit appeared in two different newspapers: The Fairbury Daily News on 14 Feb 1913 and the Fairbury Journal-News on 14 Feb 1913.
