Virginia Ann Abernathy
July 26, 1960 – August 13, 2020

rs. Virginia Ann Abernathy, 60, of Cartersville, GA went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 13, 2020. Virginia was born in Marietta, GA on July 26, 1960 to the late Mr. Justin Spires and Mrs. Melba Suggs Spires.

Virginia was a loving mother and a devoted wife. She loved being outdoors, yard sales, fishing and camping. Virginia's greatest love was being Maw Maw to her grandchildren. She was a devout Christian who belonged to Racoon Creek Baptist Church. Virginia will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Johnny Spires.

Virginia is survived by her husband of 43 years, Michael Abernathy, sons; Ray (Janice) Abernathy, Allen (Melissa) Abernathy, and Brian Abernathy, grandchildren: Ava, Nathaniel, Madyson, Darren, and Ethan Abernathy, sixteen siblings and many nieces and nephews also survive to cherish Virginia's memory.

A Celebration of Virginia's life will be conducted in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 18th, 2020 at two o'clock in the afternoon with the Rev. Josh James officiating. Interment will follow the service at Old Macedonia Cemetery, White, GA. Serving as pallbearers will be her family.

The family will receive friends at Owen Funeral Home on Monday, August 17, 2020 from five o'clock in the evening until nine.
