(Goldschmidt), 86, of Floral Park, New York (formerly of Forest Hills) died after a brief illness in Honolulu, Hawaii on January 24, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.
Beloved wife of the late Ernst Oppenheimer. Cherished daughter of the late Elfriede and Rudolph Goldschmidt and sister of the late Gunther Goldschmidt. Devoted mother of Marsha and David, mother- in-law of Paul and Andrea, cherished Oma of Rachel, Alex, Michael, and Samuel, loving Aunt to Eric, Guy and Lisa.
Born in Kassel, Germany, Inge survived the Holocaust and immigrated to the United States in 1949. She met her husband in New York City where they lived for 60 happy years of marriage. She received Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Queens College (Phi Beta Kappa), and worked as a teacher and librarian at John Bowne High School. She was a Gallery Educator and a member of the Speakers Bureau at the Museum of Jewish Heritage NYC. A graveside funeral will be held on Monday February 1, 2016 at 12:00 noon at Beth El Cemetery, 735 Forest Avenue, Paramus, NJ.
