Death of a Prominent DeWitt County Citizen

News of the death of Mr. M. Baker, of Cuero, was received in Gonzales yesterday evening at about 6 o'clock. The sad event occurred at his ranch in Kenedy, and was quite sudden. The remains were carried to Cuero for interment. Mr. Baker was father of Mrs. A. R. Harwood, of this city, and Mr. and Mrs. Harwood, accompanied by Miss Baker, who was visiting in Gonzales, left last night by private conveyance for Cuero to attend the obsequies. Mr. Baker was a well known stockman, and had many friends in this county who will regret to learn of his death.
Later-Mr. Baker's death was due to heart disease. He was out at one of his windmills when stricken. The interment takes place at Cuero this afternoon at 5:45 o'clock, the remains having been brought in on the one o'clock train.
