He lived most of his life in McDuffie County, in the Briar Creek community. He was the son of the late Lewis F Hobbs and Estelle Rooks Hobbs Stapleton. He retired from Georgia Pacific as a trim saw operator with over thirty-three years of service, and was the owner/operator of Wayne and Janie Deer Processing. He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Kenneth Hobbs. He is survived by his wife, Janie Hobbs; daughter, Carol Hobbs McCorkle (Chess); two step-sons, Timmy Hixon and Tommy Hixon; three grandchildren, Jonathan McCorkle, Brittany McCorkle, Chelsey McCorkle; eleven step-grandchildren; two sisters, June Hobbs (John) and Janet L. Hobbs; and two cousins, Allen Hobbs (Ruthie) and Gail Field (David).
