On Jun 14, 1939, she was united in marriage to Neal J. Kruse, and to this union were born seven children. They farmed and lived in the Saint Lucas area all their married life.
Melania was a cook at St. Luke's School and she enjoyed baking cookies for her grandchildren and playing cards. She was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church, Rosary Society, Cemetery Board, American Legion Auxiliary, and was a Gold Star Mother.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1960; sons, James in 1969 and Jerome and his wife, Barb in 1976; her parents; and 11 brothers and sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Don of Saint Lucas, IA, and Jean and his wife, Glenda of Oakdale, CA; three daughters, Helen and her husband, Don Pinter of Fort Atkinson, IA, Mary and her husband, Tom Karau of Marshfield, WI, and Anne and her husband, Dale Olson of Bozeman; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Herman Kuennen of Saint Lucas, IA; and sisters and brother-in-law, Elizabeth Kuennen of New Hampshire, Emma and Katherine Kuennen, both of Lawler, IA, and Lawrence Bruch of Carroll, IA.
