Georgia Edwards Bowdoin, 54, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, in Clinton, Miss., after an extended illness. Viewing will be at 2 p.m. today with the service at 3 p.m. at Episcopal Church of the Creator. Lakewood Memorial, Jackson, Miss., is in charge.

Survivors include her husband, Matthew Bowdoin, Clinton; daughter, Martha Eleanor (Christopher) Schmitt, Columbus, Ga., and grandson, Christian Schmitt; mother, Shirley Byrd McClain, formerly of Gadsden; brother, George Rex Edwards, wife Darby and niece, Harmon Byrd Edwards, Jacksonville, Fla.; uncle, Charles Yancey, wife, Sally of Friendswood, Texas; and cousins, Bethany Schoppert, Birmingham, Christian Byrd, Birmingham, Don L. Byrd and Dinah Byrd Higgins, Huntsville, and Beau Scarbrough, Atlanta.

Mrs. Bowdoin received her undergraduate degree from the University of South Alabama and her masters degree from the University of Alabama, Birmingham. Prior to moving to Clinton, in December of 2003, Mrs. Bowdoin lived in New Orleans, La., where she worked as an interior designer.
