Billy Ray Adcock, Sr., age 86, of Oxford, NC died peacefully at his home.

Born in Granville County on May 27, 1934, he was the son of the late Melvin Benjamin and Alma Brooks Adcock, a member of Hester Baptist Church and a graduate of Oak Hill High School. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany.

Billy farmed his entire life raising tobacco, beef cattle, grain, and hay. He also worked with his father at Fo-Acre Warehouse in Roxboro. In his later years Billy dedicated quite a few hours helping to mow and beautify the churchyard at Hester Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his son, Melvin Brent Adcock; two brothers, Burley Benton Adcock and Matt Hobgood Adcock, Sr.; and an infant sister, Mary Love Adcock.

Surviving Billy is his wife of almost fifty-seven years, Margaret “Peggy” Rudder Adcock; his son, Billy Ray Adcock, Jr. (Vanessa); daughter-in-law, Kim Day Adcock; brother, Edward Nathaniel “Buck” Adcock (Cornelia); sisters-in-law, Mary Catherine Adcock, Anita Adcock, Jeanette Morris (Carlyle); and brother-in-law, James “Jimmy” Rudder (Tannis). Billy leaves many loving memories to his grandchildren, Daniel Adcock, Jared Adcock, Brooke Adcock, Jennifer Adcock, Meghan Adcock, Tiffany Jones (Houston); and a great granddaughter, Clara Jones. As well as the family previously mentioned, there are many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends who will miss Billy’s sweet smile and loving nature.

Public viewing hours for extended family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Friday, August 14, 2020 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. The Funeral Home is limited to no more than 10 guests at a given time and masks are required.

A drive-thru visitation where guests may greet the family will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at Hester Baptist Church, 6581 NC-96, Oxford, NC.

A private family graveside service will be held at Hester Baptist Church Cemetery. The public is invited to view the service remotely by following the link provided above.
