Melanie Jane Butler, 43, of Springfield, died at 4:05 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center. Melanie was born on November 20, 1976 in Springfield, the daughter of Michael Lloyd Harris and June Colburn Jones.
Melanie was employed with Bayer Crop Sciences (formerly Stone Seed) for 13 years. She enjoyed her job and loved working with and taking care of the farmers. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving and her favorite pastime was being with her family. She was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan and enjoying traveling, especially to the beach.
She is survived by her life partner, Kelly McGrath of Springfield; children, Jacob Butler of Indianapolis, Joseph Butler of Springfield, and Savannah and Keegan McGrath, both of Springfield; her mother, June Colburn Jones; father, Michael Harris of Brownsville, TX; sister, Cheryl (husband, Tony) Schy of New Albany, IN; one niece, Allison Schy; one nephew, Justin Schy; and many friends and extended family who loved her.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2020 at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield with Pastor Clint Cook officiating.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following ceremonies.
