Roger Conrad Douglas, 81, of Ironton, Ohio passed away peacefully Saturday, August 8, 2020 at his residence. Mr. Douglas was born July 1, 1939, in Boyd County, Kentucky; a son to the late Rev. Alvin and Wilma (Johnson) Douglas. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jean Hill Douglas.

Mr. Douglas attended Coal Grove High School and was a former employee of Dick Masheter Ford Inc. in Columbus, Ohio. Roger was known to his friends as "Conrad." He was a man that had a love of music and could turn anything into a song and welcomed everyone to stop by his home to hear him sing or tell you a story. He also loved to cook for his family and friends and enjoyed feeding people from his fire that he had going everyday. He had a love of gardening and was always working in his garden from sunup to sundown. He also enjoyed camping and fishing with family and friends and spent many years doing so.

Roger was a man that stopped to help everyone along the way. The world will not be the same without Roger Conrad Douglas. He will be missed by so many people that he touched along the way. He was a man with an extraordinary story to tell.

He is survived by:

2 daughters: Debra Kay Douglas of Ironton, Ohio and Donna Powell of Lancaster, Ohio

2 brothers: John Paul Douglas of Ironton and George Douglas of South Point, Ohio

grandchildren: Dawn (Shane) McNichols, Donnie (Lindsay) Russell III and Doug (Francesca) Russell

11 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and people who loved him very much

 

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by:

2 brothers: James Douglas and Michael Douglas

and 3 sisters: Rosa Jane Douglas, Thelma Riley and Sarah France

 

Burial will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 15, 2020 in Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point, Ohio.
