Dr Edwin Jackson Mims was born on May 17, 1872 in Richmond, Arkansas, the son of Andrew Jackson Mims (1845–1899) and Cornelia L (Williamson) Mims (1850–1939).
He was married to Clara Puryear (1871-1960), the daughter of Thomas H Puryear and Ella (Atkins) Puryear.
A retired professor at Vanderbilt University and living at 2811 Blair Blvd in Nashville, Edwin was 87 years old and married when he died of nephrosclerosis at Centennial Nursing Home on September 15, 1959. Burial was two days later in Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashville.
