Mr. Eugene Phillips of 301 West Broad Street, Iva, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2010.

Mr. Phillips was born in Royston, Georgia, July 15, 1928, son of the late Hubert and Retha Parten Phillips. He was a press operator having worked with Oliver Rubber and he attended the Trinity Bible Church in Iva, South Carolina. Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his wife Doris Inez Brawner Phillips.

Survivors include his son, Kenneth Eugene Phillips of Watkinsville, Georgia; daughters, Kathy Jane McGarity and friend Sonny Reeb of Martins Ferry, Ohio, Teresa Ann Micek of Warner Robins, Georgia and Lisa Michelle Phillips of Lavonia, Georgia; brothers, James B. Phillips of Carnesville, Georgia and Vincent Phillips of Royston, Georgia. Seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Phillips will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 22, 2010, at the Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Malcolm Herndon, Rev. Paul Young and Rev. Larry Cantrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Zidon Baptist Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Pruitt Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening. The family is at their respective homes.

Flowers are optional; memorials may be made to the Trinity Bible Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1133, Iva, South Carolina 29655.
