Mrs. Effie Baker is Buried Here Wednesday —Was in California

Mrs. Effie Troutman Baker, 54, a sister of Mrs. William J. Harris, died Oct. 1 at Seaside hospital, Long Beach, Calif., and was buried here in Prairie View cemetery Wednesday, following funeral services held in Grace Methodist church. The Rev. Paul Brown officiated.

Mr. Harris flew to California last week to assist Mrs. Baker's daughter, Arlene Leslie, and to return with the body to Paullina for burial. Mrs. Waldo Benmer and son, also returned to Paullina to spend a few days with her parents, Mr and Mrs. William J. Harris.

Effie Edna Troutman was born 1 Sept. 23, 1897, at Blairstown, Ia. , and moved to Paullina in 1903. Her mother died in 1907. She attended Sunday school and church in Grace Methodist church, and was graduated from Paullina high school in 1915. After graduating from Iowa State Teachers college she taught school for six years, and then moved to Long Beach, where she has lived ever since
She was active in the work of a community Baptist church near her home. She is survived by one daughter, Arlene Leslie of Long Beach: one sister, Mrs W J. Harris; one niece, Mrs. Waldo Bennier of Long Beach, a brother-in-law, William J Harris, and his two sons. There are also eight grand-nephews and nieces.
