Theresa Lavarn Dotson Griffin, age 65, left us on August 7, 2020 with her family by her side at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital, Fort Worth.
Theresa was born October 4, 1954, in Waco Texas to Fate Dotson and Johnnie Greenwade Dotson. She graduated from Moore High School in 1973 and attended Paul Quinn College of Waco, one of the oldest historically black colleges in Texas. Shortly thereafter, she met and married Larry Griffin of Fort Worth, Texas in which they recently celebrated 49 years of marriage. Theresa took the role of being a mother and homemaker while her husband pursued a career as a truck driver.
She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members. Her charm and smile set enlightened any given moment. Theresa belonged to Greater Friendship Baptist Church and was an active and faithful member until her health declined.
Theresa was preceded in death by her father, Fate Dotson; mother, Johnnie Greenwade - Dotson; sisters, Eddie Mae McGee and Tina Dotson; brothers, Freddie Lee Dotson, Benny Dotson, Larry Dotson, Raymond Dotson and Robert Lee Dotson.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Griffin; daughter, Patricia Dawson; sisters, Rose Marie Williams, Margaret Dotson- Proctor and Linda Jean Dotson; grandchildren, Harvey Dawson, Jeremy Dawson (Dashonda Dawson) and Jerard Dawson; 7 great grandchildren; special sister-in-law, Patricia Ann Dotson and a host of other relatives and friends.
