He was the husband of Erma R. (Stump) Klinger. The couple had celebrated their 79th Wedding anniversary on December 31, 2019.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Gustav and Agusta (Milke) Klinger.
Mr. Klinger was a religious, hardworking man of many talents. He was employed as a supervisor by the former Iskin Clothing Co., Telford, PA, from the late 1940’s until retiring in 1984. He also worked as a farmer on the family farm in West Rockhill Township where the township park is currently located until the late 1940’s.
At the age of 17 he formed his own Country-Western Band, Emil Klinger and the Happy Rangers, in which he played guitar, sang and yodeled, performing his last show at the age of 99 ½. He also broadcast his own radio show six days a week in the late 1940’s and early 1950’s.
Mr. Klinger was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Quakertown, PA. He loved working with his hands, weaving, chair re-caning, and furniture refinishing. He also like to hunt and was an avid gardener. In addition to a large vegetable garden, he specialized as a wholesaler of blueberries, gladiolus, and mums.
Surviving with his wife are a son, Emil H. Klinger, Jr., and his wife Barbara J., of Sellersville, PA; daughter-in-law, Louise Klinger, of Shelly, PA; close friend of the family, John Oberton, of Perkasie, PA; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard D. Klinger, in February 2018; three brothers, Walter, Alex and Alfred Klinger; and three sisters, Adolphina Banes, Elsie Dunlap and Lydia Freed.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Interment will be held privately in Jerusalem Union Cemetery, Almont, PA.
