She was a lifelong resident of Bradley County until 2001 when she moved to Greer SC. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, quilting and making stuffed bears for her grandchildren, but her main objective in life was Christ first, the love of her family and being a nurse at Bradley Memorial Hospital and working for Dr. Frank Jones and Dr. James Knabb. Lorene showed love and care to everyone. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cleveland.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Lawrence Mantooth; her brothers, Olane, Ernest, Paul and Boyd Arms; and her loving son, David Mantooth. On April 21, 1989 she lost her second husband, Gene Brown.
Survivors include her children, Betty (Frank) Ellis, Larry (Caroline) Mantooth and Ben (Debbie) Mantooth, all of Cleveland and Shirley (Dan) Watkins of Charlestown, WV; brothers, Wallace Arms of Delano, Marshel (Mary) Arms of Blountville, Bill (Rennie) Arms of Rogersville and Gene (Joyce) Arms of Smyrna; sister-in-law, Jannie Mantooth; 25 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; former daughters-in-law, Elaine Sanders and Vickie Mantooth; several nieces and nephews; and special hairdresser, Dejuana Hanners.
The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2020 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Rusty Asble officiating. A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 17, 2020 at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Whitney Mantooth, Jon Mantooth, Eric Mantooth, Canyon Mantooth, Tim Ellis and Colton Mantooth serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Anthony Boon, Cary Watkins, Tripp Webb, Scott Packett, Tony Ellis, Tracy Ellis, Sam Arms and Kevin Mantooth.
