David Eldridge Childress, 80, of 960 Hunter's Circle, Rougemont, died Sunday, August 9, 2020. Born in Richmond, VA, Mr. Childress was the son of the late Eldridge Durwood and Frances Southard Childress. Mr. Childress was in law enforcement and was a member of Bahama Baptist Church. He served in the US Navy during the Bay of Pigs.

Mr. Childress is survived by his wife Delores (Dee) Goodman Childress; two sons, David Allen Childress of Chapel Hill and Scott Ross Childress and wife Mary Kate, of Middlesex; one daughter Karen Lynn Childress Johnson, of Oxford; three grandsons, Jonathan Michael Childress and wife Carolyn, Luke Allen Childress and Dylan Ross Childress; four granddaughters, Danielle Leigh Johnson, Michelle Hope Johnson, Elizabeth Dolores Childress and Allssia Dolores Correia; five great-grandchildren, Gavin Andrew Milan, Ava Childress, Cai Childress, Stella Childress and Sarah Knight; one sister, Beverly Harris and husband Lewis, of Richmond, VA; one niece, Janet H. Chatless and one nephew, Mickey Harris, both of Glen Allen, VA; several great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held 2PM Saturday, August 15, 2020, at Bahama Baptist Church by the Rev. Wes McMurray and the Dr. Roger Wall. Visitation will be held 1-2PM Saturday at Bahama Baptist Church prior to the service. A private burial will be held at Person Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
