E. Janet Bloom, 93, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, Aug. 10, 2020. The daughter of the late E. Guy and Clara (Thomas) Bangs, Janet was an extraordinary woman who was loved by all who had the good fortune to know her.

Janet was a consummate care giver, having blessed her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and countless nieces, nephews and friends with her grace, love and support. She always put others first, loved with her whole heart and lived by the Golden Rule.

Born June 2, 1927, Janet was a member of the Millville Class of 1944. She was a Sunday school and vacation Bible school teacher for the Millville Greenwood United Methodist Church for more than 40 years. Janet was one of the original “pie ladies” for Camp Victory and felt a strong affinity for supporting that organization. She was an active member of Eastern Star for many years and bagged and sold countless roasted cashews for them at the Bloomsburg Fair.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce W. Bloom, whom she wed June 9, 1950; her brother, Kenneth Bangs; sister, Ruth Swartz; and her great-grandson, Dante Andreacci.

She is survived by her children: Roger Bloom and his companion, Marie Gotschal, and Dianne Albertson and her companion, Mike Barratt; her granddaughters: Keri Shively and her husband, John, and Stephanie Andreacci and her husband, Joe; plus five great-grandchildren: Olivia and Cameron Gaito, Daniella, Viviana and Francesca Andreacci, all of Bloomsburg. She is also survived by brothers: Donald, Dale and Jay Bangs; and a sister, Sally Rishebarger.

Janet dedicated her life to serving God, caring for others and practicing kindness. She loved her family and cherished time with them, proudly fulfilled the role of “Aunt Net” to many, hosted countless family picnics and appreciated the beauty of living in the Greenwood Valley. She left her mark on this world having lived by example and teaching many life’s lessons that will live on through her extended family. If you were lucky enough to have known Janet then you were lucky enough.

Services will be Saturday, Aug. 15, at 10 a.m. at the Greenwood United Methodist Church, 466 Old Greenwood Road. Millville. Burial will follow at Greenwood (Lemons) Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Camp Victory, 58 Camp Victory Road, Millville, PA 17846 in her memory.
