Pro. J. E. Bryant,beloved by many who had been inspired by his instruction as principal of schools in Fountain Run and Tompkinsville,died unspectedly last Wednesday. Although he had been in failing health for several years, knowledge of the passing of "Daddy" Bryant called forth many expressions of grief.Prof. Bryant was the father of Mrs J. M. Hagan,Jr.Tompkinsville,Mrs O. T. Evans,Mt. Sterling,Ky. and H. E. Bryant,Louisville. Burial was at Woodburn,Ky.Thursday,where his wife,Ada Mitchell Bryant,was laid to rest in 1923.Rev.S. L. Pruitt of Tompkinsville had charge of the services. Born at Black Jack,near Franklin,Ky.,seventy years ago,Pro.Bryant came to Monroe county to teach at Fountain Run in 1909.After serving as principal there nine years,he assumed the principal's duties in Tompkinsville for eight years,when failing health compelled his retirement.Prior to coming to Monroe county,Pro.Bryant engaged in the teaching profession in Colorado and Wyoming for several years. He also had a brief experience there in the newspaper business. Pro. Bryant had also taught for briefer periods in Texas and Allen County.
Barren,Warren and Simpson counties in Kentucky. Two brothers,George and Fred,live in Colorado.Sisters are Mrs. C. P. White of Nashville,Tenn. and Mrs M. C. Unzicker of Los Angeles,Calif.Married Ada Mitchell
