Wayne was born on October 27, 1951 in Caldwell, Idaho and passed away on August 5, 2020 in a local care center at the age of 68. He was the third of six children born to the late Artie A. Thomas and Lela L. Jordan. Wayne was raised in Caldwell, Idaho. Wayne loved art and was a gifted artist from an early age. He drew and painted many of the places and people he met while overseas. Most of all, Wayne loved his family and his dogs.
Wayne served in the United States Navy from 1972 until 1978. He served aboard the USS Little Rock (CLG-4). From his homeport of Gaeta, Italy, and when duty and time allowed, Wayne immersed himself in the culture, architecture and artwork of the many places he visited. He counted it a blessing that he was able to travel to places such as Tunis, Tunisia; Naples and Rome, Italy; with port visits to Gibraltar, Lisbon, Portugal; Rota, Palma, and Malaga, Spain; and Tangier, Morocco; and Liverpool, England. The USS Little Rock was deployed to the Mediterranean to support the Sixth Fleet operations as the Fleet Commander Flag Ship during the 1973 Yom Kippur War. During that time Wayne was able to travel to Egypt.
Wayne worked as an agent for Wenatchee Trailways/Greyhound Stage Lines. When he retired, Wayne was grateful to move back to Idaho and spend more time with family, friends, and return full time to creating his artwork.
Wayne is preceded in death by both parents and his brother Roger.
Wayne’s final resting place will be at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery. Services include a Committal Service held at the Committal Shelter then scattering of ashes at the Scattering Garden. Due to Covid-19 Virus restrictions, attendees will be limited. Masks and social distancing will be required.
