Mosie Nina (Vaughan) Rather was born on July 14, 1873 in Tennessee, the daughter of Andrew Beverly Vaughan (1849–1931) and Nancy Alice "Nannie" (Buchanan) Vaughan (1852–1915).
She was married about 1900 to Sidney Edgar Rather (1875–1942), the son of Albert Hardy Rather (1842–1911) and Lucy Jane Newman (1842–1928)
Living at 229 Treutland Street in Nashville, Mosie was 87 years old and a widow when she had a cerebral thrombosis and died on August 13, 1960 at Sunshine Nursing Home, Nashville. Burial was two days later in Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashville.
