Mrs. Irvin L. Slotnik, Retired Physician, Dies
Mrs. Irvin L. Slotnik, 44, a club-woman, retired physician and wife of a Milwaukee physician, died of cancer Tuesday, Oct. 29, in St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn. She had been ill for six weeks.
Mrs. Slotnik, 8319 N. Lake dr., Fox Point, received an M.D. degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1944, but she retired from practice in 1948. Her husband is a specialist in internal medicine, and is secretary of the state board of medical examiners.
Mrs. Slotnik, the former Charlotte B. Bernstein, was born in Milwaukee. After finishing her medical training, she interned at Norwegian American hospital, Chicago. As a general practitioner, she worked in the pediatric clinics of the Milwaukee health department in 1947 and 1948. She was a member of the American Medical association and the Milwaukee county medical society auxiliary.
Her memberships included Hadassah, the Deaconess hospital auxiliary, the ladies' auxiliary of Brandeis University, Waltham, Mass., ORT, the University of Wisconsin alumni association, the Milwaukee Jewish Home for the Aged, B'nai B'rith Women, the city of Milwaukee motion picture commission, the City of Hope ladies' auxiliary, Temple Shalom, and the North Shore unit of the Milwaukee county Democratic party.
Survivors besides her husband, include two daughters, Jacqueline and Deborah, both at home; her parents, Max Bernstein and Mrs. Esther Habush, both of Milwaukee, and two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Lewis, Whitefish Bay, and Dr. Syrene Goldberg, Fox Point.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, in the Goodman-Bensman funeral home. Burial was in Spring Hill cemetery.
