Danny Wayne “Sparky” Sparks, Sr., 66, of Lashmeet died on Sunday, August 9, 2020. Mr. Sparks attended Matoaka Elementary and High School. He worked at West Virginia Division of Highways as a TW2 equipment operator for 16 years. He was of the Christian faith. He never met a stranger, always greeted you with his big, beautiful smile and made everyone laugh. He enjoyed fishing with his only son, camping, sitting by the fire, washing and waxing his truck and spending time with his family, especially his two granddaughters.

He was born on May 18, 1954 in Bluefield to the late Charles "Charlie" Roby Sparks (Deceased) and Beulah "Grace" Dicken-Sparks (1913-Deceased). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward “Eugene” Sparks (1934-2014), Robert Lee Sparks (1943-2005), Vernon Edgar "Eddie" Sparks (Deceased), Roy R. Sparks (Deceased), John Wayne Sparks (1950-1950), and Johnny Mike Sparks (Deceased); half-brother, Donald "Donnie" Smith (Deceased); sisters, Hilda "Joann" Sparks-Paciona (1942-2010); infant sister, Linda Diane Sparks (1956-1957); and sisters-in-law, Evelyn Walker-Vestal (Deceased) and Lela Ann Walker-Coomes (1949-1971).

Left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 48 years, Peggy Walker-Sparks; son, Danny Wayne Sparks Jr. & wife Angie Sparks of Lashmeet; granddaughters, Ashleigh Sparks and Emilee Sparks of Lashmeet; brothers, Charles Sparks & wife Emma Sparks of Powhaton, VA, and Richard Sparks & wife Darlene Sparks of Lashmeet; sister, Carol Sparks-Floyd & husband Larry Floyd of Delaware City, DE; sister-in-law, Cathy Walker-Midkiff of Princeton; brother-in-law, Jasper “Harold” Walker & wife Janet Walker of Lashmeet; numerous nieces and nephews; and everyone who knew him.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 14, 2020 at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. Larry Dyer officiating. Entombment will follow at the Resthaven Memorial Park Mausoleum in Princeton.
