Phillip R. Cook - West Winfield

Phillip R. Cook, 68, of West Winfield, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at his home with his loving wife by his side.

He was born on May 3, 1952 in Ilion, NY the son of late Milton and Garnet (Perrigo) Cook and was a graduate of Mohawk High School. On August 1, 1986, Phil was united in marriage to Linda Slack at the South Ilion United Methodist Church and shared a blessed union of 32 years. He was employed as a gunsmith with Remington Arms in Ilion for 37 years until his retirement in 2007 and was a proud member of the NRA.

Phil was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed family camping trips to Lake Chalet in Bridgewater and also to Crystal Lake in Garrettsville, NY. Phil cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, sharing stories of his life. He especially enjoyed spending the holidays with his family by his side. Whenever Phil had the time, he took his passion for motorcycles and hit the road for a nice leisurely bike ride throughout the Mohawk Valley.

Surviving are his loving wife, Linda, West Winfield; daughter, Shelly (Chris) Walther, Sprakers, NY; sons, Patrick Cook, West Winfield, Chris Cook, Herkimer, Scott Gay, Frankfort, Jason (Jodi) Gay, Ilion and Andy Cook; grandchildren, Amanda (Alando), Nicholas (Cerina), Emily, Luke, Matthew, Stephanie, Skyler, Mackenzie, Nathan (Amanda), Megan (Cody), Katie, Rebecca and Johann; great grandchildren, Azlyn, Zoey, Everleigh, Levi, Adalyn and Leo and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Courtney.

Phil’s family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare, Folts Home and Hospice & Palliative Care, for all their care and compassion.

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Saturday, August 29, 2020 from 12-2 pm at Dimbleby Funeral Homes, Inc., 365 West Main St., West Winfield. Interment will follow in Cedarville Cemetery. In accordance with the National Funeral Directors Association and the CDC, masks must be worn and proper social distancing practiced.
