Stacey loved with infinite courage. She loved exuberantly, without limits or reservations, in the face of the world’s brutality and indifference. She loved the way most of us breathe: bodily, innately, essentially; through every moment of every day. Her heart was soft, fierce, and brightly burning. Without her the world is damp and gray, and everything is colder.

Stacey believed the world was good, and so she made the world good. She couldn’t do anything halfway, but always with her whole being. When she laughed, it was breathless, shaking and silent, tears pouring down her face, with her whole body. She couldn’t leave the house without running into a friend, a person whose life she had touched, with whom she had made and maintained a connection. Stacey was the sun, and her friends were stars - numerous, impossible to count, reflecting back her warmth and light, shining brighter for knowing her.

Stacey is predeceased by her parents, Martin and Judith Bell. She is survived by her daughter Alina, siblings Carla and Scott, Brian and Sheri, and Jamie and Jeff, and nieces and nephews Sam, Ben, Linzi, Kyle, Abby, Brady, Jake, Natalie, and Madi, as well as thousands of friends. She was the best of us, and she kept our family together. She was our heart.

Stacey’s life was devoted to taking care of others, especially her family and her daughter, Alina. To continue her legacy of radiant love, The Stacey Bell Memorial Fund for the Benefit of Mental Health has been created in Stacey’s honor through the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Kansas City. Mental health services in Kansas City are insufficient despite high demand, and the fund will be used to ease the burden of cost for those who do not have the means.
