Robin Lisa Neal, born Robin Lisa Bates, was the only daughter from the union of the late Robert and Dorothy Bates on June 27, 1960 in St. Alban’s Queens, New York. Robin spent her early years in New York; as she would graduate in 1978 from Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art in Manhattan and went on to earn a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration in Marketing from Hofstra University in 1982.
After graduation, Robin began her successful career in the thriving field of Marketing in the northeast spending most of those years in the Tri-State area and one year in Minnesota before returning to the northeast. With over thirty years of diverse experience in medial management, insert media, customer acquisition and sales strategy, Robin held various positions in her field including Executive Vice President of BookSpan, PlusMedia, Media Management, and Insert Media Divisions at Specialists Marketing Services. Robin was a recognized veteran of the District Marketing industry. During her tenure at Specialists starting in 2005, Robin had been instrumental in new business acquisition and brought many significant brands to the company. Additionally, Robin’s talents and achievements were recognized by the DMA, (Data and Marketing Association) and had been a frequent panelist and roundtable speaker at various DMA conferences. Recently, she held the role as President creating a cohesive blueprint to maximize opportunities for the company’s clients in a variety of media channels.
After moving to Maplewood, New Jersey, her life changed forever after giving birth to her one and only child, Anthony Bailey, Jr. Shortly thereafter, they would move to the Ward Place residence in South Orange, where she and her son would spend the remaining years of her life.
Robin, along with her son, joined the First Baptist Church of South Orange in early 2005. She would rededicate her life along with her son on March 5, 2005, and became official church members shortly thereafter. During her time at First Baptist, Robin served in various capacities; the Vice-President and President in the Usher’s Ministry, a member of the Kitchen Ministry, a highly regarded Trustee of the Church, a member of the Celebration Choir, and a Church Missionary. Robin also served as an Armorbearer for Reverend Keisha Harris. Undoubtedly, Robin’s devotion and connection to the church was one of her greatest priorities in her life.
Robin would be called home to be with the Lord on Saturday October 27, 2018. She is survived by her only son Anthony Bailey, Jr., her godchildren, Jordan and Jared Haroz, and Christian Hollins along with her cousins Peggy, Michael and Carol Epps, Sherry Gibson, Noelle Austin, Phyllis Wilson, Michelle Bealer, and Donna Marie Bates (just to name a few); and her best friend for over forty years, Phyllis Wynn-Parker.
Robin may not be present with us on Earth, but her spirit lives on in Heaven, and travels with us in all that we do. Certainly, Robin will always be remembered for her kindness and gentleness that she displayed towards others. It is with great hope and expectancy that Robin’s legacy will continue to live on.
