Born April 16, 1921, in Washington, District of Columbia, he was the son of the late Richard E. Farrell and Constance Lee (Smedley) Farrell.
Bill served his country for twenty years during World War II and the Korean War. He was a proud member of the U.S. Army's 82nd Airborne Division, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment.
After retiring from active duty, he was employed for twenty-three years at the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle.
Following retirement, Bill and his wife enjoyed many years of traveling. They left Pennsylvania for Georgia in 1983.
He loved golf and spent many a day on the links with his golfing buddies.
Bill is survived by his wife of seventy-three years: Eleanor S. Farrell; his daughters: Diane Farrell Walker, Harrisburg and Mary Ann Ferguson, Augusta, Georgia; his son: Marc E. Farrell (Diane McCormick), Harrisburg; his grandchildren: Carey Gohl-Campbell, Bryden McCurdy, Meaghan Farrell, and Katy Miller; and, his great-grandchildren: Joshua Johnson, Kaleb Campbell, Adria McGarry, Audrey Chambers, Easton Miller, and Harper Ann Miller.
Interment will be at a later date in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
