Kay Marilyn Richards-Chapman, 72, of Rapid City, SD died, Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Funeral service will be 11:00am, Monday, January 7, 2019 at Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City.

Visitation will be one-hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Kay was born to Mercy Conroy and Samuel Richards on December 17, 1946 in Allen, SD.

Her greatest passion in life were her kids and grandkids. Kay loved to travel and see the world. When she wasn’t teaching the grandkids new games, she was busy with her crafting and re-decorating her house. Throughout her lifetime Kay never let life slow her down from dancing to her favorite Motown and Country Rock music. Summer days were spent enjoying her backyard, her flowers and listening to Pow-wow music while drinking her coffee. Kay’s belief in the Lord was enhanced by her favorite inspiration, Joyce Meyers.

Grateful to have shared her life are her 8 children and 35 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Kay was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Taylor Conroy and Alice Charging Bear; paternal grandparents; parents, Samuel Richards and Mercy Conroy; sister, Thelma Rios; brothers, Benjamin Richards and James Jenkins; as well as other aunts, uncles and very special cousins.
