Roy Devarle Freeman, age 85, passed away on August 6, 2020 at his home in Waxahachie, Texas. He was born on November 21, 1934 in Three Rivers, Texas, to Joe and Mattie Lee Freeman, and moved to Waxahachie at an early age.

Roy concluded his high school years as the 1953 King of Waxahachie High School. He then graduated from North Texas State University with a bachelor’s degree in business. He was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity at North Texas. He also served in the National Guard for four years during college, and reading his letters about his adventures and mishaps during that time to his soon to be wife Kay show just what an interesting and humorous man he was. Roy worked as a Claims Adjuster for Central Mutual Insurance Company for 35 years before retiring in 2000. During his time as an adjuster he collected more “bargain” items than you can imagine, using the excuse “It ought to be good for something.” His son Chris’s first car and all furnishings for his college apartment were the product of these treasures he got through insurance claims. He was an avid deer hunter, enjoyed trips to Colorado with his friends, loved all things relating to Western folklore, and is still the only person we know whose entire bucket list consisted of places he wanted to go eat (most of which included something deep fried and pie.)

Roy was preceded in death by his brother J.C. Freeman (FAG 46584514), and his sister Virginia Marie Marvin (FAG130824426). He is survived by his saint of a wife Kay Freeman, his son Chris and daughter in law Ashley, and his favorite person in the whole world his grandson Jesse.
