Mary was born on March 26, 1945 to the late Halbert Morrison and Juanita Austin in Maxton, North Carolina.

She attended Robeson County Public Schools in North Carolina and was joined in Holy matrimony with Luther Tyson on December 23, 1962, after relocating to Newark, NJ. From this union, three children were born and raised in Newark: Tony, who predeceased her, Angela and Kimberly.

Mary retired from Clara Maass Memorial Hospital after 30 years of dedicated service, primarily as an integral part of the clerical team.

Mary sincerely loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed gardening and had a green thumb with plants and vegetables. Mary was a true Yankees fan and she and Luther enjoyed watching together.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories her husband, Luther Tyson, daughters Angela Wiley and Kimberly Brown, Son-in- laws Henry Wiley and Clayton Brown, grandchildren, Melanie Stewart(Andre), Isaac Davis, Salena King, Steven Brown and Clayton Brown, Jr. Her great-granchildren, Amiri and Autumn, brothers, James and Gregory Wilkerson and niece, Jennifer Nelson and a host of loving family and friends.
