The Professor was a teacher in Bartholomew Co., Indiana, Lutheran schools. He was mentioned in the paper in 1876, then working at St. John's Lutheran school at Whitecreek. By 1879, he had moved to Kankakee, Illinois, visiting his Whitecreek friends in July. By 1883, he was once again living in Columbus. He resided at 1412 Sycamore St. for several years, mentioned in the 1902 Directory. The church later bought a different lot at 13th and Sycamore, and moved the house to that site. When St. Peter's Lutheran school opened for the 1897 school year, Prof. Gotsch was its principal. His brother, Emil Gotsch, visited from Oak Park, Illinois in April, 1899, and a sister, Bertha Gotsch, visited in Oct., 1900, and again in January, 1902.

Prof. Christian Gotsch and His Grandson Expire Within Few Hours of Each Other Today.
Louis Scheldt received word today that his father-in-law, Prof. Christian Gotsch, was dead at his home In Decatur and also that his nephew, Lewis Gotsch, aged ten months, is dead at the home of his parents, Prof. and Mrs. Walter Gotsch, of Dudleytown.
Prof. Christian Gotsch is the grandfather of Lewis Gotsch and the two died within a few hours of each other. Prof. Christian Gotsch was formerly teacher of the German Lutheran church here and was well known In Bartholomew county.
