Beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away Thursday, August 6, 2020 at New Hope Valley Assisted Living. Age 87 years. The daughter of the late Eric and Margaret (Reid) Wildenhain, Marcia was born May 15, 1933 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Thomas Schmidt, her loving husband of 65 years, on June 11, 1955. He survives her. Marcia was a member of Ames United Methodist Church. She was employed as a secretary at McBrite Manor and Square D. Marcia was a member of the Saginaw Garden Club and the Germania Town & Country Club. She enjoyed golfing and cooking and especially loved spending time with her family.

Surviving besides her husband Tom are two sons and one daughter, Charles and Mary Schmidt, Ann Arbor; Philip and Ginger Schmidt, Vienna, Virginia; Susan and Kevin Kelly, Charlotte, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Anna, Michael, Laurel, Audrey, Andrew, Trevor and Lauren; several nieces and nephews. Marcia was preceded in death by an infant son.

A private funeral service will take place at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty). Rev. David Wichert will officiate with entombment to follow in Oakwood Memorial Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or Ames United Methodist Church.
