Donna Newman, formerly of Pigeon, Michigan, passed away on March 13, 2020 under hospice care in New York City, New York.
Donna is the daughter of Alvin W. Newman and Isabell M. (Wilfong) Newman. Donna was a 1958 Pigeon Community School graduate, earning her Bachelor’s Degree of Music Voice in 1962 and her Master’s in Music Voice in 1964 at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor. Donna moved to New York City in 1982 to pursue her career as a soprano, model, and actress. She has been a featured guest both television and radio programs in New York City and surrounding areas. Donna’s greatest joy was being as a voice coach, giving lessons to many individuals.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Isabell Newman; paternal grandparents, George Newman and Ella (Verbeck) Newman; and her maternal grandparents, Anthony A. Wilfong and Aletha M. (Harder) Wilfong.
Donna is survived by many of her artistic family members and several cousins. Her greatest support, Alice Marie Newman, especially.
Cremation has taken place. Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling her arrangements. A graveside service will be Friday, July 17, 2020 at 6 p.m. at Grand Lawn Cemetery in Windsor Township, Pigeon. Memorials may be made to Hayes United Methodist Church, Pinnebog, her childhood church.
